Before You Mark That Box,
Please Read This.
Reform UK has portrayed itself as an alternative to the political mainstream by promising lower taxes, tighter borders, and an end to what it calls "the establishment."
The pitch is simple.
The reality is far more troubling.
We’re laying out the facts, plainly and without exaggeration. Here is why a vote for Reform UK risks serious harm to our public services, our democratic institutions, and our country’s future.
England Councils — Seats
Reform won 1,453 seats — a gain of +1,451 from virtually nothing. Labour lost 1,496. The Conservatives lost 563.
England Councils — Control
Reform took outright control of 14 councils (+14 from zero). Labour lost control of 38 councils only managing to hold 28. The Conservatives hold just 9. 23 Councils are now under no overall control, which are also places where reform made some serious gains. Tameside is one example, where Reform won 18 seats, Labour lost 16, and the Conservatives lost 2 — leaving the council under no overall control, and Reform winning all but 1 seat up for election.
Scottish Parliament
Reform won 17 seats (+17) in Scotland — a parliament they did not previously exist in — equalling Labour's Scottish tally in a single night.
Senedd Cymru
Reform took 34 seats (+34) in Wales, becoming the second-largest party in the Senedd. Labour collapsed from 44 seats to just 9.
This is not a protest vote on the margins anymore. This is a party that went from almost no elected representation to controlling councils, holding the balance of power in devolved parliaments, and positioning itself for a general election assault — all in a single night. The reasons on this site have never been more urgent to read.
